How great would it be if the memory-wiping technology used in this film actually existed today? Well, it sort of does. Researchers have been using new drugs to target specific memories in rats and erase them; no helmet or extensive memory-mapping required. There's nothing available for humans just yet though, so you'll just have to keep living with those painful elementary school memories for now.
