Another strong group of nominees this year, the Best Director award is likely a two-horse race between 1917's Sam Mendes and Parasite’s Bong Joon Ho. While both are deserving of the award, Mendes will likely end up with the Oscar thanks to 1917's commercial success pushing it over the edge.
