Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

While the reshoots for Rise of the Planet of the Apes weren't as extensive as other films in this gallery, they did notably change the tone of its ending. Originally, James Franco's Will Rodman died sacrificing himself for Caesar in a rather melodramatic fashion. That downer of an ending was eventually replaced with its theatrical ending, which saw a more tender farewell between Will and Caesar. Having witnessed their father/son-esque relationship develop over the course of the film, the ending that was ultimately settled on provided a nice closure for their respective stories.
