Jupiter, Florida. Great hammerhead.

The great hammerhead is the biggest of its kind in the world. All sharks have electrical sensors on their noses and heads called ampullae of Lorenzini, which sense weak electric emissions from other sea life. Because the hammerhead's cephalofoil (the underside of the head) is so wide, they're especially adept at sensing prey. This is just one of the many amazing evolutionary attributes of sharks. Sharks are one of the oldest creatures on Earth -- pre-dating the dinosaurs by over 200 million years. They control the balance of our underwater world, and all the creatures in it. The oceans in which these creatures live provide us with half of the oxygen we breathe, and regulate and feed much of our planet. Without sharks, oceans are doomed. Therefore, so are we.
