The Wizard of Oz (1939)

What part of this movie wasn’t terrifying? There was the Wicked Witch of the West, the talking trees, the disembodied head of Oz himself... But perhaps the scariest of all was the flying monkeys. These guys were creepy. They flew around the skies, ready to drop at any moment and attack Dorothy and her friends. In this particularly terrifying scene, they ambush Scarecrow and tear his innards out in a horrifying assault. Keep your eyes on the skies, kiddos. You never know what’s flying above your head.
