Blade Runner (1982)/Blade Runner: 2049 (2017) – 35 years

Making a sequel to director Ridley Scott’s modern neo-noir classic Blade Runner was quite the daunting task at first, but when Warner Bros. set out to do so with acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve, many became enthusiastic. Bringing back Harrison Ford went a long way in adding to the excitement as the new film, led by Ryan Gosling, looked more and more promising and upon its release it was rightfully met with great praise. Even though it came 35 years after the original, with a new director, the sequel was able to not only work as a proper sequel without any dissonance, but also become a classic.
