In February 2012, Robert Dewey Hoskins escaped from a mental institution in Southern California and spurred a state-wide manhunt, with police describing him as "extremely violent" and "highly psychotic." Luckily, he was eventually captured in Long Beach. This was just one of many illegal (and terrifying) acts committed by Hoskins. In 1995, he sent singer Madonna a letter threatening to "slit her throat." At the height of his obsession with the pop star, he invaded her Hollywood property several times, even getting shot by her body guard on one occasion, and threatened to kill her if she didn't marry him.
