Ghost World (2001)

In only her 10th feature film, Scarlett's work in Terry Zwigoff's dramedy Ghost World ranks among her best. She portrays Rebecca, an eye-rolling high school outsider who is best friends with Enid (Thora Birch). The girls are smart and sarcastic with refined tastes that leave their peers perplexed (in other words, Rebecca and Enid are the people you wish you were as a teenager). For her performance in the film, which also features Steve Buscemi and Brad Renfro, Scarlett was named Best Supporting Actress by the Toronto Film Critics Association.
