Coming Home Again

The Joy Luck Club director Wayne Wang returns to TIFF with his latest film, Coming Home Again. Based on a New Yorker short story by Chang-rae Lee, the film follows a Korean American man (Justin Chon) caring for his ailing mother as he tries to master her traditional cooking. With Asian American stories gaining more popularity with recent films like Jon M. Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians, Lulu Wang’s The Farewell, and Justin Chon’s latest directorial effort, Ms. Purple (which played at the Sundance Film Festival), Coming Home Again will be another film to look forward to.
