Joker

In a year in which Marvel has dominated the comic book film market with three blockbusters, all grossing over $3 billion, DC is going down a different path with only their second film of the year. Todd Phillips’ Joker represents a change of strategy for Warner Bros. and DC, as it introduces yet another iteration of the infamous clown prince of crime and keeps it separate from their shared universe of movies. As a stand-alone feature, the film isn’t beholden to what has been done before. The biggest attraction though, is Joaquin Phoenix, who presents a unique take on the iconic titular character.
