During a two-week leave, Sergeant John Tyree (Channing Tatum) meets and falls in love with Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried). Before Savannah heads back to college she promises to write John until he comes back from completing his enlistment. Things change when John re-enlists after the 9/11 attacks.
