The little engine that could. Featuring a budget of less than $5 million, Duncan Jones' (David Bowie's son) brilliant debut feature stars exactly one character in the entirety of the film: Sam Rockwell. Finishing up a three-year stint alone on a lunar installation, Sam's home stretch becomes plagued by inexplicable hallucinations and a general sense of uneasiness. What he discovers is the stuff that science-fiction lovers dream of, and it makes for a brutally honest character analysis, the likes of which are entirely unique to the genre. Filled with plot twists and terrific storytelling, Moon proves that less is more.
