The Legend of Hercules vs Hercules

Time difference: 6 months apart

In 2014 we would see a battle between demi-gods as Hollywood trotted out two different takes on the Greek legend Hercules (or Heracles for the purists). Summit went the classic fantasy epic route with the Renny Harlin-directed The Legend of Hercules starring Twilight alum Kellan Lutz in the titular role. Universal’s answer was Hercules, an adaptation of a Hercules comic with a more comedic and deconstructive look at the titular character as more of a con man of sorts, starring the ever-charismatic Dwayne Johnson. The latter was the obvious winner as Hercules would earn more in its opening weekend than what The Legend of Hercules would earn during its entire domestic theatrical run.
