Zootopia vs Sing

Time difference? 10 months apart.

The world of animation saw another battle of twin films in 2016 when Disney’s Zootopia squared off against Illumination’s Sing. While the plots vastly differed, this was a case of two studios competing with anthropomorphic animals living everyday lives. Zootopia resonated with audiences around the world with sometimes subtle, sometimes overt themes and social commentary most wouldn’t expect from a children’s film. Sing was more standard underdog fare with loads of pop culture references and hit songs. With over $1 billion earned at the box office Zootopia is the clear winner, however, Sing did earn the distinction of being the highest-grossing film to never top the box office.
