When Staten Island kindergarten teacher Lisa Spinelli (Maggie Gyllenhaal) discovers one of her five-year-old students (Parker Sevak) is extremely gifted, she becomes obsessed with him, spiraling downward on a dangerous and desperate path in order to nurture his talent.
