Paul McCartney’s Childhood Home

The National Trust has owned Paul McCartney’s childhood home at 20 Forthlin Road since 1995. Paul lived there with his father Jim, his brother Mike, and his mother Mary, who died of an embolism after an operation to stop the spread of breast cancer in 1956, when Paul was just 14. There's actually a drainpipe that teenage Paul would use to sneak into the house through the bathroom window late at night. Very possibly the experience was the inspiration for his song “She Came In Through the Bathroom Window.”
