Ryan Gosling in The Lovely Bones

Being fired from a job is always tough. But being fired after you've fully committed and gained 60 pounds to properly play a part is, we imagine, devastating. Ryan Gosling knows all too well about this, having put on the pounds to play grieving father Jack Salmon in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones (2009). He reportedly melted Haagen Daz ice cream and drank it to pack on the weight. But the physical transformation didn't impress Mr. Jackson, who had a completely different view of the character Ryan was cast to portray. His solution: fire the Canadian and bring Mark Wahlberg on board instead.
