Quvenzhane Wallis to play Annie in new movie

By Tribute on February 25, 2013 | 5 Comments

Quvenzhané Wallis is a young star on the rise. The nine-year-old is the youngest-ever Oscar nominee for Best Actress in her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild. It was recently confirmed that she will be playing the lead role of Little Orphan Annie in a new adaptation of the popular Broadway musical Annie, which was first made into a movie in 1984. Will Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith, was originally cast in the role but at 12, she’s reportedly too tall and will be too old once filming begins. Will Gluck, who based Easy A on The Scarlett Letter is to direct this new version of Annie with Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jay-Z as the producers. Annie is planned to be released during the 2014 holiday season.~E.Guevarra

Can she sing? I’ve seen many interviews and clips from her movie that she was nominated for and she is very compelling. I think she would do a great job..but can she sing?

Does anyone really think she looks like the character from Harold Gray’s comic strip???

No, she doesn’t and after seeing her at the Oscars, she seems like a little brat who’s gotten too much attention. I watched Beasts of the Southern Wild and she was like any child would be at the age of 6. Wooden. She mostly just stood around and stared at the adults. She didn’t deserve a nomination, it was ridiculous that she was nominated when there are so many great actresses who deserve the accolade.

I’m actually looking forward to her doing Jay-Z’s version of “It’s a hard knock life” hahaha
