Danielle RadcliffeDaniel Radcliffe has signed a deal for $50 million dollars to star in the final two Harry Potter films. He’ll get $25 million for each of the two—Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He told the Daily Mail: “The money is absolutely fantastic and I’m very grateful, but it’s not the main thing that drives me. Being on Fortune [magazine] lists is all very nice, but I am my own person. What people write about me doesn’t make me who I am.” Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix opens July 11th.

great for radcliffe, now he can finally afford more extensive plastic surgery.

  5. Escalator Man • June 29, 2007 @ 3:34 PM

That seems like an awful lot of money for someone who hasn’t had a hit movie without the name “Harry” in the title. If Radcliffe is worth fifty million, what does that make a Nicholson or DeNiro worth???

  6. Gurney Halleck • June 29, 2007 @ 3:40 PM

Maybe he’s getting the big bucks for some nude scenes…

  7. Gumby's Bodyguard • June 29, 2007 @ 3:43 PM

How many of these movies are they going to make?! ENOUGH ALREADY!!

  8. Omegared • June 29, 2007 @ 3:56 PM

wow…..50 million dollars and he makes it seem like it’s nothing….oh well i have nothing against him or for him….just some lucky kid who looked like a novel character and so they pay him money to be who he is not.

  9. Frugal Frem • June 29, 2007 @ 4:04 PM

That’s wayyy too much money for an actor of such limited range.

  10. Pencil Neck • June 29, 2007 @ 4:12 PM

It sounds like a bargain to me…

  11. Pencil Neck • June 29, 2007 @ 6:55 PM

“What people write about me doesnt make me who I am. How pretentious is that!?!

  12. Flenn • June 29, 2007 @ 8:42 PM

I would eat worms for $50 million.

  13. A Beautiful Mind • June 30, 2007 @ 4:56 AM

That’s ridiculous money for ANY actor, let alone a child star. Makes you wonder how much Harrison Ford is getting to reprise Indiana Jones…

  14. Pez Dispenser • June 30, 2007 @ 7:20 AM

    Agreed!

  15. NASIR • June 30, 2007 @ 10:10 AM

That’s a lot of money. What did he earn for the first 5 films. What are the other actor’s earning compared to his 50 million.

  16. Kevin • June 30, 2007 @ 9:33 PM

good, im proud of him… he works hard for that money! every harry potter film takes 9 months to complete! thats almost an entire year on ONE film. for when u add it all up, its like 7 reals he has been acting as harry potter. and he does a great job.

  17. Kevin • June 30, 2007 @ 9:34 PM

    7 years*

  18. Toothpick Charlie • July 1, 2007 @ 3:02 AM

How many films has he done where he doesn’t play Harry Potter???

  19. Pencil Neck • July 1, 2007 @ 9:09 AM

    WORD.

  20. Phil Feckman • July 1, 2007 @ 9:43 AM

Giving a child fifty million dollars is a less-than-responsible thing to do. It’s a very sad day for the social contract of the planet.

My God you people are stupid! The books are un-American because they are British! They were writtin by a Brit for British children. Gumby you twit, there will be 7 movies, cause there are 7 books so after the seventh there will be no more. You also can’t blame Radcliffe for asking for $25 million for the last 2 films if the studio is dumb enough to pay it.

  22. Phil Feckman • July 1, 2007 @ 10:02 AM

So just because there’s seven books there has to be seven movies? What a bunch of hooey…

  23. Cruel But Fair • July 1, 2007 @ 10:10 AM

There’s no way I’d give him $50 million!

  24. Mingo • July 1, 2007 @ 11:19 AM

It works like this: many actors can play many different roles, but you cannot have a Harry Potter movie without Harry Potter. When Richard Harris was “replaced” with Michael Gambon for the role of Dumbledore, it wasn’t the same. I believe one of Malfoy’s cronies was also replaced, but he was insignificant. Even replacing Chris Columbus, which changed the “feel” of the movie didn’t hurt much. However, you cannot replace Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, or Rupert Grint, and have the same type of movie.
I agree that $50 million is a bargain. With what those movies are making, and the franchise rights, I say Radcliffe got screwed.

Our kids should be reading books that teach good, wholesome American values – things like THE HARDY BOYS and NANCY DREW. I’m pretty sure Harry Potter is a Communist…

  26. Ed Davis • July 1, 2007 @ 12:20 PM

Radcliffe can be replaced; it’s not like he’s playing Indiana Jones.

  27. Swamp Thing's Brother • July 1, 2007 @ 12:38 PM

    That’s a really creepy photo!

  28. Buckwheat • July 1, 2007 @ 12:53 PM

Too many haters on here….let him get his paper!!! He is the heart and soul of the series…. nuff said.

  29. Ed Davis • July 1, 2007 @ 12:59 PM

    That’s not saying much.

  30. Somebody • July 1, 2007 @ 1:18 PM

He got ripped off because the producers and everyone else are probably making 10 time smore moeny, but still who wouldn’t accept $50 million if it were offered to you?

  31. Familiar Face • July 1, 2007 @ 5:52 PM

He’s just not that good an actor. They should have made one really good movie instead of seven dodgy ones.

  32. Ed Davis • July 1, 2007 @ 11:20 PM

They should stop making Harry Potter and do more Lord of the Rings films.

  33. Swamp Thing's Brother • July 1, 2007 @ 11:21 PM

    I don’t like his eyebrows.

  34. poop • July 2, 2007 @ 1:40 PM

    I’ve seen his willy

  35. heh • July 2, 2007 @ 2:50 PM

He has $50 million and more. Legions of fans. All of you haters don’t. End of story. Period.

  36. uhhhHUH • July 2, 2007 @ 3:05 PM

WHAT? Okay yes 50 million $ sounds like alot…But these movies put together are going to make over a billion dollars world wide…..witch meeenz 50million is notthing, excepecialy if your the title character HARRY POTTER…. he could have got so much more

  37. Groppler Zorn • July 3, 2007 @ 7:07 AM

One “Potter” film would have been sufficient. I don’t think they even made seven “Herbie” films.

  38. Hero in a Fezz • July 3, 2007 @ 10:50 AM

I’d much rather see another Lord of the Rings sequel than another Harry Potter movie.

  39. Bird on a Wire • July 3, 2007 @ 11:02 AM

Giving a child all that money is a recipe for disaster, what with the temptations of drugs and alcohol. Years from now we’ll see him on Maury as a washed-up former child star trying to explain where all the money went…

  40. Grape • July 3, 2007 @ 11:03 AM

    Yep.

  41. James • July 16, 2007 @ 2:14 PM

bunch of haters, everyone in here would take that money if it was offered to them or their child , regardless of what their talent is.

not one of you will tell a studio ,”no, pay me less im not that good of an actor or no pay my child less he’s really not that good.”

this franchise has made over a billion and possibly close to 2 billion by the time is over. u think he’s getting paid too much? i dont think so. he’s getting screwed.
