Redmond O’Neal, 24, who was sent to jail last year after he was found to be carrying heroin while visiting a friend in prison, was released to an in-patient rehab in Pasadena last September, when Judge Jane Godfrey found that he was “doing extremely well,” and his attorney told People magazine, “Redmond has embraced recovery.” Unfortunately, on December 29 when he returned to the residential treatment center following a 24-hour pass, Redmond tested positive for drugs. “It seems to me you haven’t got a clue as to what recovery means,” Judge Michael Tynan told the young man. “It’s a lifetime commitment. It’s grinding, hard, painful work.” The son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal, Redmond has been struggling with drug addiction since his early teens. Though he was scheduled to be released from rehab this September, he is now back in prison.
