Rick Ross and Young Jeezy brawl at awards show

On Saturday night, hip hop celebs and performers gathered to attend the 2012 BET Awards in Atlanta, but after a chaotic backstage scuffle between industry heavyweights Rick Ross and Young Jeezy, the vibe of the usually amicable show turned sour. Footage from TMZ shows a large number of police officers caught in a commotion of fists and loud shouting fired back and forth by both rappers and their entourages. With coarse video quality and no statement made by either camp, there has been no news of what caused the dispute. Various social media sources and witnesses at the scene reported that the altercation had made its way to the parking lot where gun shots were fired. However, in an official statement released by BET, the network has said that although “police spokesman Carlos Campos said officers responded to the scuffle around 7:30pm…there were no shots fired.” Luckily the incident didn’t lead to any serious injuries or fatalities, but it seems this brawl has left a nasty mark on the relatively new awards show. “For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop,” the network said in their statement, adding, “BET Networks does not condone any type of violence.” ~Brandon Bastaldo
