Riddick rules the weekend box office

Vin Diesel’s action flick Riddick took over the top spot at the box office from last week’s winner, One Direction: This Is Us. Riddick brought in a weekend gross of $18.67 million and a Tribute rating of 4.6 stars. Two-time box office king Lee Daniels’ The Butler managed to maintain its second place, earning $8.9 million and a Tribute rating of 3.8 stars. Foreign film Instructions Not Included jumped up a spot, taking third place and earning $8.1 million with a 3 star Tribute rating. Raunchy comedy We’re the Millers took the fourth spot at the box office, garnering $7.9 million and a Tribute rating of 4 stars. Disney’s Planes rounded out the top five, bringing in $4.27 million with a Tribute rating of 4.4 stars.

One Direction: This Is Us dropped from the top spot to sixth. Also included in the top 10 were Elysium, Blue Jasmine, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and The World’s End. ~ Marriska Fernandes

    At 18 millions, I wouldn’t say it ruled. If it would have come out in July, it would have been DOA.
