Rob Pattinson turns down Cowell’s record deal

Robert Pattinson has turned down an offer from Simon Cowell to sign with his record label, Syco, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper. Although fans loved the two songs Rob recorded for the Twilight soundtrack, he thinks his music is “depressing” and not mainstream enough. He told the paper: “I love Simon, I think he is a great personality and I think his shows are entertaining. He is a clever guy, and he’s created artists that he knows the public will like, that’s why I don’t think he could ever launch my music career.” Though Rob sings, plays guitar and piano and writes his own songs, he says of his music: “I don’t think many other people would like it. I see myself playing in a rundown blues bar, with about three people drowning their sorrows. I play according to my mood, and sometimes that can come across as very depressing in music.” For now, Rob just wants to concentrate on his acting career. He’s currently filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I.

I love the two songs he sang in Twilight (you can hear them in the background, the first one is during the restaurant scene).

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don’t make. Good for him for not using his celebrity to push yet another marketing stunt just to make more money on us. Remember Jennifer love Hewitt, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan trying to get a music career? The HUMANITY!!!!

Hey Rob….Its nice for you to be honest with the public but most talented people tend to over criticize their own talent. Alot of people seem to have love your two songs from the movie Twilight so why not let them be the judge on whether your music is too depressing or not. I`d love to hear more.

I think he’s smart to focus on the things he loves, ie; Twilight and Kristin. Maybe down the road when acting isn’t taking up so much of his time, then he could make music for us. Sometime a little of something great is better than alot of something so-so.
