The Judge star Robert Downey Jr. is keeping fans’ heads spinning as to whether or not there will be an Iron Man 4. When questioned about the future of the Iron Man franchise on Tuesday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he responded, “There are going to be a bunch more Marvel movies and they have big ideas of how to do it best and [they’re] in the middle of negotiation…” He later seemingly confirmed the film with an “OK, yes!” when Ellen pressed him.
However, when Robert appeared on The Late Show later that day, he told a different story. While talking to David Letterman, Robert revealed, “There [are] no plans for an Iron Man 4.” David asked the obvious question: “Why not?” To which Robert replied, “That’s a valid question. Like it hasn’t made enough money? Yeah, I guess they have too much money or something. There is no script for Iron Man 4.” Robert put fans at ease by announcing that Marvel does “have a plan and [he] thinks they’re going to announce it [soon] . . . but they’re very secretive about it.”
Probably since that was totally unclear, David asked again if Robert was going to be in another Iron Man movie. “Just between us, no,” the actor admitted,”but I’m going to do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen.” At any rate, fans can look forward to seeing Robert reprise his Iron Man role in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, set for release May 1, 2015. ~Janine Wyslobicky
