Robert Pattinson cast in Hunger Games sequel?

It’s being reported that Twilight star Robert Pattinson has been cast to star in the upcoming The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, which is being helmed by his Water for Elephants director, Francis Lawrence. Pattinson is rumored to have been cast as a tribute from District 4 – Finnick Odair. This has many fans expressing their outrage on social media sites such as Twitter. Both the Twilight and Hunger Games series are based on popular, teen focused novels which fans feel passionate about. Twilight fans feel betrayed that their favorite vampire is  moving on to a competing franchise, while some Hunger Games fans, accustomed to disliking the the Twilight stars, are also displeased to see him joining the cast of Catching Fire. The final cast list for the film is set to be released in December. Until then, the controversy is likely to continue, with fans of both series expressing their disdain. ~Stacy Raivich

WOW who cares what movie he goes into, he can’t be a sexy vampire for life……:)

People need to shut up and relax…I personally don’t like Twilight much but I don’t make it my daily mission to hunt and trash everyone involved with it. And he’s not “betraying” anyone, what, he’s in your series so he has to turn down all offers from anything else? Shut up and grow up, he’s actually a decent actor, blame the writers and the director in Twilight. Just enjoy your respective series.

Get a Life People! Robert Pattinson is a great ACTOR. I stress the word actor, because that is what he is, an actor. What? Just because he starred in one movie series he can’t star in another?

I agree with everything said. And if he bulks up a bit he actually fits Finnick’s description really easily. Including the fact that they both have a screaming fanbase. He did well in Harry Potter, Twilight was just not executed well, they did the movies too soon after the release of the books and didn’t make good casting choices- IMO….but The Hunger Games has a strong cast and I believe he would fit in well with them. And at least they’re not casting a total babyface like Zac Effron or Alex Pettyfer.

Twilight is the best! But I’d lose so much respect for RobPat if he did the hunger games…that’s like going over to your competitor because they’ll pay you more money. Don’t sell out Edward!!

Keeping aside comments about both franchises, as an actor I think it would be a very cool feat for him, since he has been part of two major franchises (Harry Potter and Twilight). Being part of the Hunger Games franchise would be a trifecta!

This douche needs to go away. He can’t act his way out of a paper bag. Who casts these movies??? Have they even read the books? Finnick Odair is described as a hansome man with athletic body type, not a skinny dude with freakish looks. Had he any self-respect, he would recognize he’s not suited to take the part. Too bad he’s a Hollywood whore.

  8. Missy • May 24, 2012 @ 2:14 PM

Rob is a handsome man with an athletic body – trim, but athletic. I could see him playing Finnick. But I really doubt he would want to be part of another franchise. He doesn’t need the money, he doesn’t want the attention and he prefers doing smaller, offbeat films. I really doubt he would accept the role.

Let the actors talent speak for them not fan’s loyalties to previous works. And may the best actors be cast for the remaining films in the Hunger Games trilogy.:)

    will he sparkle?

  11. Laura • May 24, 2012 @ 5:09 PM

Please let this rumor only be a rumor.
If this is true, my hopes of Finnick being likeable will be as dead as RPatz’s career after that vampire trilogy.
If they choose anyone from Twilight, please let it be Kellen Lutz. At least he’s hot.

Robert Pattinson said that he wouldn’t be doing those “shirtless” scenes anytime soon again. You can’t have Finnick with a shirt on! 😉

    All I can say is………NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.:)

He’s an actor, you can’t just class him as his one part he’s played. If he’s good, he deserves the chance to get another part. Geeze tweens, grow up.

Good for Pattinson! I wish him luck.

  16. My opinion • May 24, 2012 @ 9:53 PM

If Robert find the role in `The Hunger Games` a challenging and interesting role to play as an actor then he should go for it. I love twilight and loved how Robert protrayed Edward Cullen in that movie. But Robert Pattison is NOT Edward Cullen.

I wish people would stop `Type Casting` actors in the particular roles that made them famous. Such as, Willian Shatner proved he could play many other roles apart from `Kirk` from Star Trek.

  17. Kassi (Nova) • May 24, 2012 @ 10:17 PM

I am excited to see Robert Pattinson in anything and everything. I am a Twilight fan, but I have enjoyed almost every film he has been in, and think he is a fine actor. And how is being in a Hunger Games sequel film a betrayal to Twilight? Did he not complete the film series? Betrayal would have been leaving the role of Edward to be in the sequel.
Robert Pattinson is an actor, who has been in many book-to-film adaptations. That he went on to possibly star in Catching Fire should be a surprise to no-one, and instead of complaining, they should just be happy that he has been successful in his career and leave it at that.

It’s just a rumour made in order for the media to gain some audience. You can all relax.

  19. Mathea • May 24, 2012 @ 11:38 PM

Plus, his films are brilliant. He’s a fine actor like Kassi (Nova) said. I’ve certainly enjoyed every film he’s been in, and I look forward to his future work 🙂

  21. dude • May 25, 2012 @ 12:50 PM

Why does this guy always get cast as the hot guy? He’s disgusting and looks dirty. Here’s an idea, cast someone hot who can act!

  22. Mask • May 25, 2012 @ 1:19 PM

I’d rather see Chris Hemsworth or Gaspard Ulliel in the role but he’s okay, if he’s up for doing an other franchise.

  23. never mind • May 27, 2012 @ 11:46 AM

dont care which actor gets the part as long as jennifer is as smokin hot as she is in the first one 😛

  24. Misericordia • June 4, 2012 @ 10:41 AM

Hah Melissa calm down, you sound like an illiterate fool talking like that…As funny as it is.

Also, he is a terrible actor and should fall off the face of the planet so someone who knows how to act can play the sexy finnick :3
