Roman Polanski released on bail

roman_polanskiRoman Polanski has been released on bail after the Swiss Federal Criminal Court ruled the director could get out of jail if he put up $4.5 million bail and surrendered his passport. Having been in jail since he was detained on September 26, Polanski gladly met all the requirements and is now under house arrest in his luxurious Swiss Alpine chalet, where he is being monitored by an electronic tag. Polanski, 76, has been wanted since fleeing the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl. ~Alexandra Heilbron

oh, this is lovely news. im so glad that he gets to spend his time in his luxurious home rather than in prison where he belongs. f-ing court system is retarded.

Well, if you think about it, he’s not much of a flight risk now (they are going to watch him like a hawk) and letting him sit in prison is just going to cost the system money. $4.5 Million bail injected in the system could do a lot of good.

When you weigh the scales, its not such a bad idea.

Money talks. People have short memories in the entertainment world there are a lot of them that have kids that age. I wonder how sympathetic they would be if Polanski drugged and raped their 13 year old child. He doesn’t deserve any leniency. Put the child molester in jail where he belongs. He scarred a young girl for life. He’s a pig.

Dave, do you know how ‘bail’ works? That $4.5 million does NOT get “injected into the system”. If he shows up for his court, he gets his $4.5 million back…the system gets ZILCH! In other words, he doesn’t get punished except to sit in his luxurious chalet and wear his ankle bracelet. Tough times! Poor thing! How will he ever survive?!!

The system is corrupt. We’ve seen repeatedly that the big money makers can always buy their freedom no matter what their crime. The “powers that be” can be paid off.

This is insane, he should NOT be free.
