Romancing the Stone remake planned

Following in the footsteps of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Romancing the Stone, a similar adventure movie that was a big box office hit in 1984, is going to be remade for the big screen. The original film, which was written by Diane Thomas and starred Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner, was director Robert Zemeckis‘ first box office success. Daniel McDermott, who co-wrote Eagle Eye, will write the new version, which will presumably have new leads, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The original film was followed by a 1985 sequel, The Jewel Of The Nile, starring the same three leads.
