Russell Brand may not be after Katy Perry’s money — he declined to accept his entitled share of her earnings — but he may be after her look-alike instead. The couple’s divorce papers were officially filed earlier this week and although the split won’t actually be official till the end of June, Brand seems to have his eyes set on New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Perry. “Russell has had his eye on Zooey for a long time and he’s been sending funny, flirty texts to see if they can get together,” a source tells OK Magazine. “He thinks she’s hysterically funny and cute, too. He loves her quirky sense of humor, and thinks they’d be great together both on-and-off screen. There’s a real spark there.”
Deschanel, who is also in the midst of a divorce (from Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard), is apparently “intrigued” by the idea of hooking up with Brand but according to the source, “She’s heard about his reputation as a womanizer, and isn’t sure whether she’s ready to rush into another relationship so quickly.” The actress seems to be aware of how similar she looks to Perry and says she’s even been mistaken for the singer by fans.
