Ryan Gosling hated Rachel McAdams on The Notebook set

According to director Nick Cassavetes, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams did not get along during the filming of The Notebook. It got so bad that Ryan asked for another actress to replace her during a crucial scene. Nick told Vh1: “Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there’s 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ And he’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.” Instead of having another actress stand in for Rachel, Nick had the two co-stars talk it out with a producer.

He says: “We went into a room with a producer; they started screaming and yelling at each other. I walked out… And it got better after that, you know? They had it out.” Nick reveals: “I think Ryan respected her for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open. The rest of the film wasn’t smooth sailing, but it was smoother sailing.” Oddly enough, Rachel and Ryan, who are both from London, Ontario, became an item after that for the better part of three years, splitting in 2007 and then getting back together for a few months in 2008. Rachel has since dated Michael Sheen, while Ryan recently broke up with Eva Mendes.

Some of your articles sound like they are from a trash mag.

Gosling is an idiot. I understand that some people just don’t click. I don’t always like people I have to do long projects with at work. However I don’t trash talk them. This is even more unprofessional since he is in the media. I am sure Rachel knows she is great and shrugs this off but it still makes her look like she is hard to work with and many great actors have said they really liked her. I would trust Vaughn and Wilson from the Wedding Crashers who said great things on the red carpet. I would trust more experienced these two then I would Gosling. Vaughn alone has worked with some of the best in the business.

@Ben, ummm, Gosling never said this stuff. It was the Director. Gosling is a cool cat – no need to take a run at a good ‘ol Canadian boy.

Wow…..digging deep….how many years have they kept this “riveting news”? In the vault…..sad

Sounds more to me like they were passionate about each other from the get-go.
Whole lot of romances started up as conflicted.

I agree with MightyMad and I still think they should get back together.

Are you sure Ryan and Eva aren’t together? Kinda funny since they’re having a baby.
