Ryan Reynolds to star in X-Men spinoff

Ryan ReynoldsRyan Reynolds must have impressed studios by playing Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, because he is set to play the character again in a spin-off. The film, currently titled Deadpool, is reportedly already in development. Known as “the merc with a mouth,” Deadpool will be extra-mouthy in the spin-off, in spite of what happened to him in Wolverine. Deadpool intends to go back to the comic book character’s original abilities and slapstick roots. Reynolds previously told Access Hollywood he’s wanted to play the mercenary for a long time. “I think he’s the most interesting, unusual, comic book character ever invented,” Reynolds said. “He’s a guy that knows he’s in a comic book, which I think is hilarious. So he’s incredibly acerbic and has a real dark wit to him and I love that.” Variety notes that the casting was perfect, saying, “In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as a mix between a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds.” ~Meryl H.

I can’t wait, he book one of the best comic book chachters. A cross between spiderman and wolverine.

Let’s ignore what happened in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and start afresh because that wasn’t Deadpool.

It can be Deadpool. Don’t forget that Deadpool has the same regenerative capabilities as Wolverine, though in the movie, it’s not played up.

Deadpool has an artificial healing factor and his body reaches out for his decapitated head in a post-credits scene. All of his other powers were gains from former Team X members (Bradley’s technopathy, Wraith’s teleportation) and Scott Summers’s optic blasts. Deadpool also does not retract blades out of his hands like Wolverine. The character in the movie was a combination of Wade Wilson and Weapon XI; this is not Deadpool!
