Ryan Seacrest inks new deal on American Idol

Ryan Seacrest is sticking with American Idol. The television personality, who just hosted FOX’s 25th anniversary special, is staying on board the network’s flagship program, inking a $30 million deal that will keep him as host throughout the next two seasons. In a press release from FOX, Seacrest, who has been the host of American Idol since its premiere in 2002, said, “For the last 11 seasons, I’ve had the privilege to be a part of one of television’s most iconic shows. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited for my journey with American Idol to continue.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, executives were eager to keep Seacrest on Idol as he’s seen as a familiar constant during a time when the reality series has gone through significant changes. Last season, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler were brought in to replace longtime judge Simon Cowell. The deal brings into question the future of some of Seacrest’s other ventures. On top of his hosting duties, Seacrest was also strongly considered as an anchor on the Today show. ~Kyle Sharp
