SAG Awards 2017 – complete winners list

Emma StoneThe 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild awards were handed out on Sunday night. While many predicted the award winners in the major categories, there were a few surprises.

Denzel Washington earned the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his role in Fences, which he admitted took him by surprise.

Emma Stone won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role while Hidden Figures won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

This year’s award season favorite Mahershala Ali won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in the critically-acclaimed Moonlight. Fences star Viola Davis took home a bronze statue for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.

On the small screen, the popular Netflix series Stranger Things won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series while Orange is the New Black took home the trophy for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Lily Tomlin was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award, presented by her 9 to 5 co-star Dolly Parton. ~Marriska Fernandes
