Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to help the Japanese victims of the horrific earthquake and tsunami. The charity told CNN yesterday that it was the biggest celebrity donation they’ve received since the disaster occurred over a week ago. This isn’t the first time Sandra’s been that generous. Last year, she donated $1 million to aid Haiti relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in that country. Other celebs have been using social media to ask their fans to donate to the Red Cross, which has resulted in $2.6 million in text message donations so far. On this week’s American Idol, it was announced that 100 precent of the proceeds of downloads of the contestants’ performances this week would go to the Red Cross relief effort in Japan, and they also gave out text message numbers for fans of the show to donate additional money.

The Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, is a lighthearted romantic adventure that is sure to make you both laugh and swoon.
that is very generious of sandra to do that 🙂
There’s at least one that doesn’t ask everyone else to give money and puts up her own cash. Being a philanthropist is not putting the Red Cross link on your website, it’s giving your own time or money.
She impresses me.
good for you !
im waiting for the retarded comments (we all know are coming)stating that she didnt donate ENOUGH based on how much money she has and how famous she is.
i dont know about red cross, do they actually send ALL of the money to the victims? or do they send like 20% like all of the other places that “help” people? i forget which one my mom said not to donate to because they keep ALL the money they receive and send NONE of it to the people that are actually in need.
That’s damn impressive.
The woman is a peach.
i donated $5! Everyone who has an iphone should donated a small amount by going on the app store and clicking the Japan & tsunami donate app.
Charity is a virtue. 🙂
This is who Sandra is — a caring person who steps up when the need is great. This isn’t the first time she’s led by example, and it won’t be the last. Sandra — you rock !
I will say I like the fact that she donated this cash. It says a lot and does show that leading by example is a big deal.
