Scarlett Johansson cast in Ghost in the Shell

Scarlett Johansson is quickly following up on the successes of her action-packed roles as Lucy and the Black Widow in The Avengers movies with a starring role in DreamWorks’ Ghost in the Shell. The film is based on the manga comic series by Masamune Shirow.
The plot centralizes on strong female lead Motoko Kusanagi as she becomes entwined in a complicated political mess. It is likely that the film will adhere to the futuristic qualities of the manga series, set in a time where an electronic network governs all aspects of life. The central themes of the original series pivoted between sexuality and gender identity.
The film has also attracted director Rupert Sanders, who helmed Snow White & the Huntsman. The screenplay has been written by Bill Wheeler, while Ari Arad, Avi Arad and Steven Paul lead the team of producers. ~Nadira Chand
