Scarlett Johansson says fans are rude

Scarlett Johansson wants you to mind your Ps and Qs. The actress said she is still caught off guard by how some fans treat her when she’s out in public.  “I’m constantly surprised by how rude people are,” she told the UK newspaper The Independent, while attending the London premiere of her new movie The Avengers. “You’ll be having an intimate dinner with a friend and there’s somebody on the table behind with a camera phone pointing at your face.” Scarlett said she would take her own advice if the situation were reversed. “I think, ‘I would never take a photo of someone without asking.’” Although the paparazzi — whether amateur or professional — continue to be a source of annoyance for Scarlett, she says she knows it’s what comes with being a celebrity. “I’m not traumatized [by it] but I find it can bring out the worst in humanity sometimes.”  ~Emily Davies

She seems she has a bt low self steem and plus she is very uptight! I know they are annoying. But what can u do !

  3. mary auld • May 3, 2012 @ 2:48 PM

People are rude at the best of times but it must be very annoying when you are in a restaurant with a friend to have people annoying you taking pics etc. Yes..she IS a celebrity but that is no reason for people to be rude. Celebrities mean nothing to me, I would make it my business to ignore them. We place these people on a pedestel for what???? Acting….they are not exactly doing anything for mankind are they? We should direct our adulation toward people who do something to deserve it.

To me, if a celebrity is working i.e. on the “red carpet” or a promotional event, they are fair game. If not, leave them alone. Certainly if you are going to take a picture, ask politely. I know I would appreciate a request.

P.S. Mary…no celebrities aren’t curing cancer, but their work often brings joy to people. That is valuable.

What is she crying about. It’s part of the job. When you get into the business you automatically sign away your privacy…it’s part of the deal. That’s what they should teach in acting school. I think ScarJo just needs to suck it up

  6. Kevin M • May 3, 2012 @ 3:50 PM

@ Brenda, imagine being asked a dozen times to take a picture while trying to enjoy dinner.

  7. Kymah • May 3, 2012 @ 4:40 PM

@Kevin M, Do you think any celebrity would trade all of their money for one night of privacy?

  8. SharonS • May 3, 2012 @ 11:41 AM

She should enjoy it while it last – when they stop taking pictures how do you think she will react?

  9. TheTruth • May 3, 2012 @ 5:42 PM

Did she ever stop to consider that maybe I was just trying to take a picture of the dish she ordered?

  10. Robbie • May 3, 2012 @ 12:09 PM

I think what she said is direct and to the point…don’t refer to her as a b*tch because she has a brain

  11. Krantzstone • May 3, 2012 @ 6:15 PM

She’s right: some of you are rude.

  12. anonymous2 • May 3, 2012 @ 1:18 PM

    How true SharonS.

  13. Catherine • May 3, 2012 @ 1:30 PM

Well here is my 2 bits, Well she is also rude without fans where would she be ??? Here is a solution stop eating out at all…. ha ha ha take it with a grain of salt fans are Your bread and butter lady

  14. Janni • May 3, 2012 @ 1:33 PM

Even celebrities should have the right to dine out in privacy. Pictures can be taken when they leave the restaurant.

  15. Wendy • May 3, 2012 @ 1:36 PM

I agree…the Red Carpet…you are fair game…..But it would be nice to eat your meal while it is stll hot enough to enjoy. Besides who wants a pic with their mouth full.

  16. Monica • May 3, 2012 @ 1:38 PM

I don’t understand… when they are nobody they try to be in every picture and love it when somebody takes a pic of them… when the are fading stars they even start scandals just to be in the picture… But when they are already famous or in the top of their careers they hate the fans and the reportes taking the picture… but remember you are there because of the fans and the press… maybe those are the perks of the job!!

  17. SuzyCreamCheese • May 3, 2012 @ 1:55 PM

Typical of a Jewish American Princess! Where would she be without Fans?

  18. Chucky Nelson • May 3, 2012 @ 2:45 PM

She’s just mad every fan has a copy of her tight buns from her phone on their desktop as wallpaper.

  19. Hamburger Helper • May 3, 2012 @ 3:05 PM

She absolutely right. Why can’t people ask her for a photo instead of sticking a camera in her face. It’s different if she’s on the red carpet but at a personal dinner with a friend is a different story. Have some respect people.

  20. Hairbag • May 3, 2012 @ 3:12 PM

why the big deal they are people that make huge amounts of money and who spends it so they remain rich the harding working trying to make ends meet people so get over it maybe we should all stop going to movies …..and stop the pictures then where will they be …………..get over it

  21. Fred • May 3, 2012 @ 3:29 PM

Talk about stating the obvious. Of course some fans are rude, ignorant, self-serving obnoxious bungholes. They feel entitled to a celebrities time.
Nothing but tools who idolize people who’s only attribute is they can act like someone they’re not.

  22. Richard • May 3, 2012 @ 3:54 PM

Move to Canada – We don’t have the problem with people who treat others as objects instead of as people; unless they happen to be visiting from “another” country. Ask those who have moved here to escape the mindless actions of the mindless fan.

  23. tam • May 3, 2012 @ 3:58 PM

these are the reasons they get paid so high.. if they dont like it go act in low budget films… just for enjoyment..

  24. OneAngryCanuck • May 3, 2012 @ 4:23 PM

When celebrities are at the top of their game and don’t like to have their privacy invaded they should do the Johnny Depp thing and buy and island and have a relaxing interruption free dinner.

When they go to restaurants that their fans or paparazzi can afford or invade then it’s their own fault. “oh I am such a big star and I can’t eat my whopper or Big Mac in peace” give me a break.

If the island is too expensive try a yacht or a closed dining room with a private chef. They usually can afford to close a restaurant down for themselves.

All her whining is just more publicity. Can’t wait to see her when her career slumps. We will finally get the full frontal versions of her leaked pics in Playboy.

There’s a old saying in Chinese:’One kind of Rice feed hundreds different personnelities.’ And it fit all humanities of the World. ‘just a thought’

  26. LuvMyVamps! • May 3, 2012 @ 5:24 PM

I agree with the comment above…

Scarlett Johansson does seem a little up tight, perhaps Johnny Depp could invite her to F-OFF to his private island in the Caribbean for some R&R.

  27. Debbie Magnin • May 3, 2012 @ 5:51 PM

Yvonne you need a smack upside the head, you are a fine example of the stupid ignorant people in this world.
I hope you do not have kids because you would be a horrible role model of disrespect, and Ignorance. Grow up!!!! and obviously from the comments on this page your not the only one who needs a smack. No wonder kids are such hoodlums these days, they are being raised by a bunch of ignorant morons who would not know respect if it walked up and belted them.

  28. sandie • May 3, 2012 @ 7:44 PM

so, let me see if i understand most of the comments on here. she is an actress so she has absolutely NO right to ANY privacy? gee, that somehow doesn’t sound right. I don’t care who the person is, ask permission before taking pictures!! sheesh, welcome to the entitlement age

  29. whatever • May 3, 2012 @ 7:44 PM

Really Scarlett??????????? You would rather the majority of people in the resturant come up to you and ask to take a picture? Wouldn’t that prevent you from eating your meal??

What a tough life you lead 🙂

  30. CiCi • May 3, 2012 @ 7:46 PM

She has a good point. Even celebrities are allowed privacy. It is terribly rude to take a photo without asking, as though she is not human. Modern society is far too relaxed when it comes to manners and appropriateness. Tights/leggings as pants=case in point.

  31. Terry • May 4, 2012 @ 12:22 AM

Debbie Magnin I couldn’t agree more! Well said!
Mary Auld, you are absolutely right……celebs are put on a pedestal for no reason, acting or singing is just their job, and so what?
I was in a restaurant and the table attendant gushingly pointed out to me that Elvis Stoico was sitting with his girlfriend at a nearby table. I couldn’t care less…don’t care if the guy can skate or not skate……what about it?? Does Elvis Stoico care about what “I” can do??? NOT!!

  32. yuck • May 4, 2012 @ 5:00 AM

@Sharon S: you said it right. Why else do these washed-up child celebs get so messed up? It is especially sad when reading about the real nobodies from way back when ending up in jail over something stupid, they weren’t really stars in the real sense either!
People hunger for the fame and attention and then they can’t deal with the ups and downs of it.

  33. Maggi M • May 4, 2012 @ 1:46 PM

I can see where she gets the idea of rude people, just by the comments here.I see it every day in all walks of life! It’s a shame people have no respect for mankind any more, morals are not being taught. That is why our world houses so many ignorant, intolerable, selfish people now. Everyone deserves privacy no matter what they do, including celebrities. Have we become such a bored race that we need to worry more about other peoples business rather than our own? It may come with the territory but it always ends up excessive!! I understand how frustrating it would be!

  34. Diane • May 7, 2012 @ 8:55 AM

Its part of being a star.
I was recently at the mike tyson show
” the undisputed truth “. And there were several stars there. Sitting beside us was criss angel. I took a pic and he graciuosly. Called me over asking if i wanted a pic with him. I was in heaven and left, thinking ” what a terrific guy “.!

  35. Joe Pistone • May 9, 2012 @ 2:05 PM

Maybe celebrities should come together and form a fan conduct guild-line. I understand that they trade their privacy for fame and fortune but i think there are moments when privacy should be respected especially when their children are involved. I personally hate to be bothered when eating. Have you ever been attempting to enjoy a meal be it at a restaurant or fast food joint and a homeless person asks you for change or the mute guy hands you the card that tells you hes mute and needs your money. Or the flower guy that thinks you should by the female your with his Romantic flowers not knowing your out to lunch with your sister or a female coworker. I hate all those people why wont they let me eat in peace god knows where they have been and i don’t want them breathing around me or my food.

  36. Rose • May 25, 2012 @ 6:22 AM

SHUT YOUR MOUTH @ YVONNE! Are you an sane? just because you’re some fat fool desn’t mean you should spit out venom at a Great Celebrity. Learn to watch your words BITCH! Also, she’s a beautiful person, so wish her the best and stop being horrible.

  37. Chanda • June 3, 2012 @ 9:55 AM

I think she is a beautiful person and I agree yes she is a celebrity, but she should still have been asked before any photos were taken. I was at an event last night where there were a lot of local celebrities. As much as I wanted to get their autographs or say hi I kept to myself because I didn’t want to be one of the people who harass stars.
