Scottish singing sensation wows Simon Cowell

When she walked onstage to perform for Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle, 47, with her grey mop of unruly curls, drew guffaws and rolled eyes from the audience. Even the judges — Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden — looked bored and skeptical. But when she sang the first line of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, their jaws dropped open in awe. Her clear, strong voice came as a complete surprise. By the middle of her song, there were even tears in the eyes of many viewers, who jumped to their feet at the conclusion of her performance. Morgan called it “stunning, an incredible performance.” Holden said it “was a complete privilege” to have heard Boyle sing, while Cowell joked (much to everyone’s amusement), “I knew the moment you walked onto that stage that we were going to hear something extraordinary, and I was right.” Boyle teased, “Oh, Simon!” putting her hand on her hip in mock exasperation. He then called her a “little tiger.” She couldn’t believe it when she got three yes votes from the judges. This morning, Susan was interviewed on CBS’s The Early Show and is already making quite a sensation across North America.
