Sean Penn’s son regrets homophobic slurs

By Tribute on March 28, 2013 | 13 Comments

Hopper Penn, the son of Sean Penn and his ex-wife Robin Wright, has told TMZ that he regrets his outburst against a member of the paparazzi. Last Tuesday, Hopper was following his father into an office building in Beverly Hills when he got into verbal tussle with a photographer. He apparently shoved the African-American photog, flipped him the middle finger, and shouted racist and homophobic slurs at him. Police were nearby at the time and were alerted about the exchange. The photographer talked to them but isn’t pressing charges against the 19-year-old celebuspawn.

Hopper has defended himself, saying he felt he was being attacked, although that likely won’t do much to stop outrage at his choice of vocabulary. Unfortunately for Hopper, the entire exchange was also recorded and the video is available online. It seems Hopper has the same disdain for the paparazzi as his father; Sean Penn is known for his angry run-ins with the paparazzi and he has even served jail time as a result of his actions.  ~Cassie Jasinski

Very childish. Can we expect anything else from a celeb’s kid?

  2. Carlos • March 28, 2013 @ 10:43 AM

    SPOILED IGNORANT KID

I wouldn’t expect Sean Penn to have anything but a spoiled brat for a kid. This kid looks like a punk. And who names their kid Hopper?

A toothpick hanging out of his open mouth at a black tie event. Classy.

Saw the whole video; it’s obvious that Penn was, from the get-go, the attacker, not the victim. His sad excuse for his behavior only proves how unremorseful he truly is. A complete douchebag.

Why won’t celebrities teach their kids some class? Some manners? Maybe set an example? Society should learn to see people as people and not colour…

Really, he’s the son of a celeb. Why would he feel like Bieber? Why and who would attack him? lol.

Obviously he’s just acting out because his dad named him Hopper. Totally understandable.

Why is it so normal for the press to stalk people in their private lives that we don’t even consider this when we read the story. A lot of young people would probably react poorly if they are followed and photographed when they are out in public. It is a sick culture where we worship celebrities and then judge them if they don’t allow us our obsession.

Obviously there should be no place for racism or homophobia in our society, any more than there should be a place for stalking people for profit.

Paparazzi are SCUM! Maybe not as people, but their jobs are the bottom of the sewer garbage. Anyone that invades someones PRIVACY should be criminalized! For all you “haters” for the Celebs – put yourself in their shoes. How bout I follow you around everyday and snap photos of you and make money off of them? All without your permission. I’ll just bet you’d be singing another tune. As far as the “slurs” – People who live in glass houses should not throw stones – we’ve all done it – and anyone who says otherwise is a liar. I’m so sick and tired of what is politically correct these days. Everyone needs to lighten up! If you felt threatened – you’d be amazed at what came out of your mouth!
