Security beefed up after Robert Pattinson attack

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 17, 2009 | 13 Comments

Robert Pattinson in NYCRobert Pattinson was jumped by over-excited fans in New York City on Monday, despite having security guards accompany him to his trailer on the set of his new movie, Remember Me. Two fans were able to dart past the guards and throw their arms around Pattinson’s neck before being pried off. The Twilight star took it in stride, but now security has been beefed up in order to give Pattinson a little space while he’s trying to work. Also, as of yesterday, a crew member was assigned to protect Pattinson from the sun with an umbrella, because his Twilight contract states he can’t get tanned — The Twilight Saga: Eclipse begins filming in October.

Good grief, what is wrong with people? They aren’t in love with HIM, they are in love with his character!!!
I can’t imagine being an Umbrella Holder, I think I’d rather count paper plates!

He should just wear long sleeves and borrow a face mask from Michael Jackson…it works to keep his skin white. 😀

if he was to get tanned, couldnt they just use makeup to cover that up? lol its funny that he has security to protect him from the sun.

The makeup (not only on Rob, but on all the Cullens) was laughable in the first Twilight. In the trailer for New Moon, it looks like they’re not going with white makeup, but have just asked the people playing vampires to keep out of the sun and hopefully this time, they won’t get laughs when they show up on screen.

TG, funny, counting plates…I think I’d take the one that pays more…lol Makeup, did hollywood forget that, they make so much look natural, I am sure if they tried again they could get it right.

LOL, true, Carol, I guess I’d take the one that pays more too! Although counting paper plates would be even more satisfying a job than umbrella holder!

Poor dude, it’s like LEO Mania all over again. Why cant those ‘fans’ chill out, he is just a person. After Tilight Saga is over he will probably go into hiding like Leo did after Titanic & never take another high profile roll! I think he is super sexy but I wouldnt ATTACK him! Geez!

I can’t believe people can be soo insane sometimes. Sure he is super hot but I would never ever attack him. People need to remember that he is a humanbeing too, and he needs space just like everyone else.

What do you guys expect from Americans?? Absolutely no control whatsoever. Poor guy…

I feel so sorry for him! Yes he’s a good looking man and yes people are going to be attracted to him (or edward cullen) But what makes these people think they can do that to him? There’s nothing wrong with being a fan and at the right time and place asking for an autograph and maybe a picture, it comes with the job! But what they did was over the top, talk about having no time or space to himself!
