Selena Gomez does not wear bindi in new video

Selena Gomez not only received positive feedback for her seductive performance in her new music video “Come and Get It,” but also for her decision to forgo the traditional bindi this time around. She was particularly praised by the Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed who believed Selena’s previous decision to include the bindi in her wardrobe was “insensitive.” The forehead decoration used for religious purposes by South Asian women was worn by the Wizards of Waverly Place celeb in several past live performances, including her debut of the hit at the MTV Movie Awards. In a statement last month, Zed expressed his view on the importance of the bindi, saying, “It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed.” Selena must’ve taken his advice, as proven in the online premiere of her new music video. Kudos Selena for making the right choice. Perhaps you should teach on-and-off boyfriend Justin Bieber your decision-making tactics; he sure could use it. ~Rebecca Raveendran
