Seth Green isn’t happy with Ben Affleck playing Batman

The upcoming Man of Steel sequel is one of the most anticipated movies of 2016, but not everyone is satisfied with Warner Brothers’ decision to cast Ben Affleck as Batman. Actor Seth Green revealed his feelings about the casting decision on Larry King Now: “If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans-before-all-else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled, weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older,” he said. “You need a guy’s who’s got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of.” He added, “You’ve got to remember that at the core of that character, Batman’s a crazy person. Batman has no powers. Batman is a rich, screwed-up kid whose parents were killed in front of him, who with his money and insanity decided to become a vigilante symbol to combat darkness.”

When Larry King noted that Affleck is “a very good actor,” Seth offered a quick reply: “Yes, but there is only so much that you can act a role before people are or are not going to believe you in that role.” Using himself as an example, he reasoned: “I’m never going to play, you know, an MMA fighter, because I’d step into the ring with an actual MMA fighter like Batista and I wouldn’t look correct.” What do you think? Is Ben Affleck going to be able to pull this off? ~Yara Matar [poll id=”556″]

NOBODY is happy with Affleck as Batman.
Then again, people are even more furious about Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
I cannot wait to see this movie… just so I can laugh my ass off at the overall mess it will undoubtedly be.

I embrace the different interpretations of these characters. I have my own interpretation of each of them, but, I enjoy seeing how these actors, and directors bring their versions to both the big screen, and the small screen. The job of these artists is to entertain, to tell us a story, and, yes, sometimes we aren’t happy with the results, but the effort was made, and is always worthy of at least being open to taking a look.

I think we’ll just have to wait and see. Sure, some of the actors have some performances in the past that make us second guess them but they also have great ones to! Don’t forget that we live in an age of pretty epic special effects and make up, no doubt they’ll do what they have to to get Ben looking crazy and old.

Zack is no doubt feeling the pressure and I’m sure as a respectful fan of the material he has something incredible in store. Let’s all take a deep breath and relax. I’m sure everyone involved in this project wants only success and given two Avenger movies will have past by then, the bar will be set mighty freakin high.

    Can’t wait!!!!

P.S. Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms yo, and hopefully he’ll knock out a sick performance in MOS 2!

i agree completely with seth green. also he’s not dissing ben affleck, those are legit character-based concerns. i also have the exact same opinion about the wonder woman casting choice – again, no diss to the actress. my conclusion is that i will have to watch the sequel and be proven wrong. 🙂

The sheer presence of Affleck does not withhold that of a Bruce Wayne let alone Batman. As Seth says you would not cast him as a MMA fighter in a movie simply because of his demeanor and not because of his acting ability.

I am a huge Superman fan. And while I do really like Ben Affleck’s work, am I happy he will be playing Batman? No one can really say how he will do because the moxie’s not out yet. While physically he may not look the part, people can surprise you. There’s no telling what the outcome of the movie will be.

Why don’t we wait and see…the same complaints came up with Toby McGuire as Spiderman and Daniel Craig as Bond…they proved the nay-sayers wrong.

Honestly, I think both Ben Affleck as Batman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther will be great roles for both men and they will act well in those roles.

Why can’t we all just wait and see how well the movie actually is before saying the two will be horrible in their respective roles and the movie will provide nothing but a laugh?

I don’t care that Ben was Daredevil (a movie I haven’t actually seen, to be honest) and that it was a horrible movie, it’s not always the actors who make the movie bad… remember other people wrote the scripts, there was a director and producers that all have a vision of where the movie is to go. You can’t blame the actors… cause look at Kristen Stewart, she’s not a good actor but she keeps getting cast into good movies (and no I’m not talking Twilight, I’m talking Adventureland, Snow White and the Huntsman) and even despite her being in them (acting like she did in Twilight) the movie is still pretty good.

So maybe… JUST MAYBE, this movie will be good and the actors will pull off a great job! 🙂

I think the pro Ben Affleck as Batman and pro Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther people will have the last laugh when this movie comes out, and all the nay sayers will be all “whoa.. wait… what!?”

People weren’t happy about Heath Ledger as the Joker either.
