Seth MacFarlane: ‘I won’t host Oscars again’

Seth MacFarlane Seth MacFarlane won't host the Oscars for a second time. Although the Family Guy creator is preparing for his first time as host at Sunday's ceremony, he is already sure that this will be his first and only time in charge as it is such a big commitment. He told Entertainment Weekly, "It's the time commitment, I just don't think I could do it again. It will have been almost six months that I'm working on this. And I'm still going to get savaged in the press." While he doesn't plan to return, Seth has tipped Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to take over next year and make it a success. He said, "Tina and Amy will do it next year and they'll get rave reviews. But I just don't know that I could do it again. I just can't take that kind of time out of my schedule. I have very little free time." Seth admitted he was drawn to the job because he knew he could mess it up. He explained, "You know if something sounds interesting and challenging and it sounds like something I could [mess] up and do badly, I'm generally interested in making the attempt. They called me and I was like 'Well this is something I could mess up pretty badly.'"

I think he did a decent job tonight, funny as always then again I usually laugh at his jokes. Sadly even someone as witty and funny as Seth Macfarlane can’t save the Oscars from snoreville!!! It’s not his fault they suck.

TBH, I only saw the intro, the whole skit with Will Shatner. I liked the dance numbers with Channing Tatum and Charlize Theron + Joseph Gordon-Levitt + Daniel Radcliffe… so cute! But I can’t judge him on the rest of the night

I think that while some of his jokes were spot on, the show didn’t remain as enjoyable as I would have wanted it to be. Rihanna-Chris joke was way off.

Just as what Mr. William Shatner mentioned “why can’t Tina & Amy host everything?”

the beginning was great. the middle to end was not. Very few laughs and I can’t believe people seemed to take to hear a lot of his comments. But at least they got a guy that can sing and is funny.
I think Tina and Amy are amaing together and should do it.

Agree Snepts. Preferred Gervais. Hopefully Seth, Tina Amy duo aren’t chosen next year. And hopefully Hathaway won’t have to make any acceptance speeches, however timing was perfect to take a bathroom break during her speech….and a shower….and bake a cake….
