Seth MacFarlane to give Oscars an edge

When asked by ET what the tone of the Academy Awards ceremony will be this year, host Seth MacFarlane answered, “I think everybody’s fair game.” He also shared a laugh about how he “foolishly said yes” after receiving a call offering him the gig, adding, “The whole point of their bringing me on was to give it a little bit more of an edge… but it is a balance, because you have a room full of people who are at the top of their game — they’re successful, they’re being honored, they’re attractive — and yet it’s also the group with the thinnest skin on the planet.” Performers announced for this year’s Oscars include Jennifer Hudson, Hugh Jackman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Amanda Seyfried, Barbra Streisand and Adele. Kristen Chenoweth will be doing a closing number with MacFarlane, which has been described as a “can’t miss moment” by the producers.
