Sex and the City grossed $55.7 million — more than expected — at the weekend box office, proving that there are a lot of women in their thirties and up who make up a strong section of the moviegoing public. Theaters in most major cities were completely sold out this past weekend. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull dropped to second place in its second weekend at the box office, earning an additional $46 million (all figures US). Another new release, the extremely frightening horror film The Strangers, earned third place, taking in $20.7 million. After five weeks of release, Iron Man dropped to fourth, earning an additional $14 million. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian rounded out the top five with $13 million, surpassing the coveted $100 million mark by $16 million.
