Sharon Stone blasted for wearing rat paw

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 26, 2008 | 30 Comments

Sharon StoneSharon Stone has been criticized for wearing a freaky “lucky charm” broach made from a chopped off rat’s paw to Sir Elton John’s post-Oscars party on Sunday night. She apparently wore it after hearing it was a lucky charm for Scotsmen on their wedding day, saying “They wear it on their kilts when they get married. It’s a good luck thing.” However, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were less than impressed with Stone, who was not getting married or wearing a kilt, saying: “Maybe Sharon, passed over by the Academy yet again, was jealous of Ratatouille’s Oscar win and thought a rodent paw might go with her haggard look. Her accessories these days are as dead as her career.” Stone is known for her love of fur.

“She apparently wore it after hearing it was a lucky charm for Scotsmen on their wedding day.”

Obviously the rat was not so lucky…

Get a grip PETA!! Sure the rats paw is weird and gross, but we really do need to keep the freakin’ rat population down don’t ya think? I know I wouldn’t want rats in my home! I know they are everywhere in the larger cities and that is just not right man. Rats running around the restaurants that people eat in….GROSS!! I would rather kill a rodent than degrade another human being about how they look and their career choices! PETA….they just need something to b*tch about!!

“I would rather kill a rodent than degrade another human being about how they look and their career choices!”

You obviously didn’t see BASIC INSTINCT 2.

Sharon’s career has been dead for about 10 years now. Too many flops in a row.

  5. Alexandra • February 26, 2008 @ 12:22 PM

Nancy, that’s a pet rat paw. It’s white. It wasn’t running around in any restaurant and would have only been in your home if you’d bought it and brought it home.

  6. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 12:23 PM

Maybe true, Sean, but I would still rather kill a big fat rodent!! LOL. I mean they care so much about this freakin’ rodent. I bet PETA would kill 10 humans to save the life of one rat! It would be kind of neat to see what all these PETA people would do if the world had a shortage of food other than meat…..

  7. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 12:25 PM

Alexandra: A rodent is a rodent!!

  8. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 12:58 PM

I have been to PETA’s website before! It is disgusting! They ONLY put the bad stuff on there. I mean, they don’t show someone killing and animal in a quick way….no….they show the most long, gross and painful ways. Who is running the f_ing vid. camera? These so called ‘good people’ as you put it, just said…”go with her haggard look. Her accessories these days are as dead as her career.”….hmm…yeah, good people!! Maybe she doesn’t act much anymore but she still brings in the dough by running her own production company. She amkes more money than the ones at PETA who are putting her career down. I am not saying that it is right to kill animals only for their skin or fur but welcome to the food chain!!

Nancy you are a horrible narrow-minded person. Nuff said. And if you reply with anything else, i won’t waste my time reading it. A life is a life, so what if its a rodents?

  10. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 4:55 PM

Yeah, and it is winter so I also have my mouse traps set!! There’s only room in this house for one family! 🙂 Oh, and this family eats meat…but not rodents!

  11. sk8tergirl • February 26, 2008 @ 5:46 PM

    Oh Nancy……..

  12. chris • February 26, 2008 @ 6:23 PM

Nancy ur discusting im sorry, ur logic makes no sense. you complain because they show videos of people killing animals slow……why wouldent they if thats what happens in this world, sure they could show the quick ones but if people are killing animals in a tourtorous manner then thats what needs to be shown…your basiclly saying “why are they showing those people starving in africa on t.v when theres so many people at home with food on there plates!”….your off your meds, get a grip on reality for your sake.

  13. roflmao • February 26, 2008 @ 6:28 PM

    Hurray for PETA!
    Animal murder is WRONG!

  14. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 6:52 PM

I NEVER SAID THAT IT IS OK TO TORTURE OR KILL ANIMALS!!!!!!! Jeez! Do I b*tch you out for your opinion?? My family eats meat…whoopie! I commented at 12:58 pm that I DON’T BELIEVE IN KILLING ANIMALS FOR THEIR SKIN OR FUR. I do, however, agree with killing animals for food. I also believe, whether you all like it or not, in keeping the rodent population down….their feces can be very detrimental to your health! Now don’t tell me that any of you have never stepped on a spider, or that all of you are vegetarians!

Oh Chris….you must be off your meds…because the people in Africa would NOT be starving if their government WOULD LET THEM KILL THE ANIMALS FOR FOOD!!!! So, for your sake…you should think about that!! 🙂

  15. tributegirl • February 26, 2008 @ 7:09 PM

Wow, nothing like animal welfare to bring out the animal in all of us! Ok guys, don’t bash Nancy for having her own opinion, she’s entitled to her opinion just as much as the next person. I understand what she is saying about the rodent population, and yes, if I had rats or mice in my house I would be setting traps. Lucky for me that hasn’t been a problem so far. But, and this is just my opinion now, no need to flip out, I do think it was extremely tacky of Sharon to wear this. She is a very smart person, she should be aware that this would create a ton of controversy, so I’m wondering why she would do it. She’s not a scotsman getting married. So what gives?
I am very concerned about animal welfare and do not believe in any torture of animals, I do not believe killing an animal for it’s fur. I do believe in killing them for their meat, as long as it is a quick death and as painless as possible, and I also believe in euthanasia if the animal is suffering.

Nancy why would you pick on this type of bread so negatively. I have used peta for all types of sandwiches. Please reconsider your position on this and try a peta pocket with grilled vegatables with sweet onion sauce…

If I were voted Miss teen Canada I would build shelters for all rats so they could harvest the thousands of diseases that fester in them. I would also stop the needless extermination of Cock roaches they are also mistreated.

she was using the point of goodluck as a scape goat. im scottish but when wearing a kilt there are other objects of luck to adorn yourself with. it was wrong of her to wear that paw, she is in the public eye she had to know someone was going to call her on it. its true that the paw she was wearing had to be that of a domestic rat due to the colour which makes the entire situation worse. she is just a useless human being and had no place being at the awards anyways. she just wants to keep herself in the spotlight, she did spend all the money on the plastic surgery so she wants everyone to see it

  18. Nancy • February 26, 2008 @ 10:32 PM

Look at Pamela Anderson…..MISS PETA herself….but we all know that she likes her meat!! L 🙂 O 🙂 L 🙂

  19. Anonymous • February 26, 2008 @ 11:51 PM

nancy my dear, you’ll never win with the peta people. we can put them in the cult category and leave it at that.

they justify some of the things they do saying they are doing it to “save” the animals. then they go out, break into some mink farm, open the cages, tell the animals they are “free”, and then run for the hills. too bad if the minks get caught and eaten by coyotes, foxes, hawks, etc. too bad if they starve to death because they don’t know how to survive in the wild. too bad if they become roadkill. best of all, who gives a “mink’s a**” if the mink farmer loses everything because of peta’s criminality.

as for sharon stone and her rat’s paw, if she wore it for “luck”, how lucky can it be if the rat died. it brought the rat no more luck than it will for sharon and her career!

best of all, in these comments is the other anonymous who uses all lower case like I do. do you suppose the double has incarnated himself into me now? if so, there is just one problem. i’m not scottish and would never adorn a kilt (or anything else) with a rat’s paw talisman. that’s just gross.

WHO CARES – THE LAST TIME I LOOKED IT WAS STILL A FREE COUNTRY (CANADA & THE USA).

  21. Nancy • February 27, 2008 @ 8:53 AM

What about all these people who carry a rabbit’s foot on their keychains representing good luck? No one ever says anything about them. For someone with an IQ of 154, Sharon Stone is pretty whacked though for wearing that!! I guess you guys didn’t catch my awful Pam Anderson joke!!

  22. Alexandra • February 27, 2008 @ 9:25 AM

“because the people in Africa would NOT be starving if their government WOULD LET THEM KILL THE ANIMALS FOR FOOD”
Wow, are you uninformed. 800 million people are suffering from malnutrition or starvation. Why? Because cattle grown to feed the western world eats two to five times more grain that is required to produce the same amount of calories through livestock as through direct grain consumption. In other words, if we didn’t need the grain to feed the cows because we want beef, there would be no more starving people because there would be grain enough to feed them. If you need further reference, check out the article called Rethinking the Meat-Guzzler from the New York Times, January 27, 2008 by Mark Bittman.

I’m sorry But Who in their Right mind would have a Pet rat That Big, by the size of that Paw it would have been an enornmous Rat, most likely would cause some damage if it ever got Loose. Sure wouldn’t want it running around My house! Has anyone ever thought it could be dyed White. That’s One big scary Paw, sewer Rat, dat dat is….

  24. tributegirl • February 27, 2008 @ 8:11 PM

Apparently pet rats are extremely smart and trainable. I’ve never had one, and never will, but I’ve talked to people who have. Rats can be trained almost as well as a dog, so they can learn to not cause damage.
Anonymous, Sharon Stone is not a “useless human being”, wtf is up with you? She had every right to be at the awards, it was just extremely poor taste on her part to wear that paw. She is definitely smart enough to know the controversy it would cause, so she must have done it on purpose. She obviously has something up her sleeve.

  25. Nancy • February 27, 2008 @ 8:14 PM

LOL Tributegirl! “She obviously has something up her sleeve.”……….Maybe the rest of the rat!!!

  26. tributegirl • February 27, 2008 @ 8:25 PM

She’d better be careful, if it bites it could cause a wardrobe malfunction! Or some other malfunction! One word: OUCH!!!!!

  27. Nancy • February 29, 2008 @ 9:28 AM

The timing on this is impeccable! It just so happens to be the year of the rat for the Chinese New Year!! 🙂

  28. tributegirl • February 29, 2008 @ 11:23 AM

She’d better stay out of China then!

PETA IS A CULT!!! And if you really want to look at some of these spokes”people” you will find that they are severely under-nourished ( Moby the Vegan) and that they truly do only depict the worst things on their website. Hitler called it propaganda. This is no different. You just play on the fears and concsience of weak people and they will follow you like Lambs to the slaughter( sorry about that comparison, PETA, but it is waht it is, dig?). I eat meat that is killed and prepared according to my beliefs. But I also know that people like Paul McCartney need to realize that some things that PETA does is just plain ignorant and ignorance seems to gain hardy followers as history dictates. Get a hobby, and I suggest it be hunting!! LOL!!!
