Shia LaBeouf reveals he took acid for role

By Tribute on August 29, 2012 | 10 Comments

Shia LaBeouf is quickly becoming one of the most outspoken stars in Hollywood. In a recent interview with USA Today, the 26-year-old actor revealed that he used acid to prepare for his latest film, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, in order to better immerse himself in his role. In the film, which also stars Evan Rachel Wood, Rupert Grint, and Mads Mikkelsen, LaBeouf plays a young man who falls in love with the girlfriend of a crime boss. During one scene, his character gets high on the psychedelic drug. “There’s a way to do an acid trip like Harold & Kumar, and there’s a way to be on acid,” said LaBeouf. “What I know of acting, Sean Penn actually strapped up to that [electric] chair in Dead Man Walking. These are the guys that I look up to.” LaBeouf’s openness about his acid use is no surprise, considering in the past he has slammed director Steven Spielberg for his Indiana Jones sequel and has more recently blasted the studio system for blockbusters. It was also recently revealed that his excessive drinking to prepare for his role in the film Lawless almost caused one of his co-stars to quit the project. LaBeouf’s latest film, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, is due out sometime next year. ~Isabelle Khoo

Harold and Kumar weren’t on acid, they were just stoned. I think there’s a huge difference there. And he’s an actor, can’t he just ACT being high?

CRTC…Exactly what I thought when I read this!!
He is going down a spiral. Don’t diss Speilberg and blockbusters which YOU are in every other year! Dumbass. And I see he wants to be a great actor like Sean Penn, but come on..that happens over time, no need to ruin your brain or get a nasty addiction over a performance. Let the natural performance flow..that’s acting a part. Not living the part.

I hope he doesn’t earn a roll as a serial killer or something like that!
