simon_cowellAmerican Idol‘s Simon Cowell is planning to bring The X Factor to the United States. The British paper Daily Mirror reports that Cowell, who also produces America’s Got Talent, has made a deal worth $103 million with FOX network to recreate the reality show in the States. Cowell will reportedly officially announce the news on October 7th – his 50th birthday. World famous singer Leona Lewis was discovered on the British version of The X Factor, on which Cowell is a judge. The show, though similar to America’s Got Talent, is different in several ways. Finalists are divided into four categories – boys 16-24, girls 16-24, people over 25 and groups. The show has four judges, who each act as mentor for one section of the competition. Paula Abdul, who did not return to American Idol this year as a judge, is reportedly being considered as a judge for the American edition of The X Factor.

Great as he found Leona Lewis on that show and a few others that I’ve seen on You Tube, should be a GREAT addition.
