Simon Cowell to produce feature film

Simon CowellAmerican Idol judge Simon Cowell is planning to produce his first feature film. Though it’s still untitled, the film will follow 10 contestants as they compete in a TV singing competition, similar to American Idol. Cowell describes it as a ”musical version of Rocky—an underdog story, a feel-good film.” He plans to hold nationwide auditions later this year and cast unknowns. The auditions will be filmed, and some will be used to open the movie. Cowell is hoping to release the film next year.

How could anyone be pleased or excited about Cowell being involved in this project, when his only talent thus far is his crude, wise-ass comments aimed at contestants. Basically he’ll be reprising his role as “look-at-how-clever-and-witty-I-am” Simon Cowell. Looks like he’s really going to stretch for this one.

I am writing in response to Bill, I have news for you if Simon Cowell was not on the american Idol show it would shut donw. The reason, people love to hate somebody. Additionally, he usually tells the truth to the contestants and if he wasnt there they would have everybody who auditioned in the competition!!!!!!!!!

Isn’t this guy’s ego big enough? Producing these reality shows is one thing – but a movie? Come on! Everybody who’s anybody in Hollywood thinks they can produce a movie these days and just look at the crap they’ve been giving us. Attendance is down and NOT just because of competing audio and video sources. It’s down because, even with all the special effects out there, Hollywood is starting to have a giant creative void.
