Slumdog director gets DGA Award

The Directors Guild of America named Danny Boyle the Best Director of 2008 for Slumdog Millionaire at the awards ceremony on Saturday night. Having already won the Golden Globe, Boyle seems to be a shoo-in for the Best Director Oscar. In the past 60 years, 54 DGA winners have gone on to win the Oscar. Slumdog Millionaire is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Motion Picture of the Year. It’s already won a British Independent Film Award, a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama, a National Board of Review Award for Best Film and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. It also won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Academy Awards are scheduled to be held February 22 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
