Private memorial to be held for Jett Travolta

By Alexandra Heilbron on January 7, 2009 | 44 Comments

Photos of Jett Travolta from John Travolta's official websiteAn autopsy on the body of John Travolta and Kelly Preston‘s son Jett has shown no signs of head trauma, despite earlier police reports that he’d hit his head while falling in the bathroom on vacation in the Bahamas. The death certificate shows that the cause of death was a seizure. Caregiver Jeff Kathrain found the boy unconscious in the bathroom and summoned Travolta, who then performed CPR until paramedics arrived. “He did mouth-to-mouth until they had to physically remove John to take Jett to the hospital,” Travolta’s lawyer Michael Ossi told People magazine. Ossi also said Jett suffered approximately one seizure per week. Jett was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome, not usually associated with seizures, at age two. Preston earlier stated that she believed it was brought on by the chemical-laden carpet cleaners used in their home. She claimed that a detoxification program based on the Church of Scientology’s teachings had helped her son’s health. Jett’s body has been cremated, and his ashes flown to Florida, where a small service will be held tomorrow at the Travolta’s Florida mansion.

ohh man here we go again with scientology! this is heartbreaking news 🙁 RIP Jett

  2. ke • January 7, 2009 @ 2:23 PM

one seizure per week! that sounds terrible. i wish them the best.

  3. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 3:11 PM

    agree ke, likewise

  4. trib • January 7, 2009 @ 4:41 PM

not meaning to disrespect jett or anything but i think that its crazy to give more attention to someone famous who is going through grief then the person who lives next door im not saying that jetts death wasn’t as terrible as all deaths are just but i don’t think its was worse then what happens to people every day if we act like this to celebs we should do it to everyone if we don’t do it to everyone we shouldn’t do it for celebs its not like there gonna come on this site and read all the comments and feel better thats just my opion

  5. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 4:49 PM

why do you guys keep going on about assuming the rest of us do not show enough grief for un-celebrities? what’s this “showing more attention”? I show way way way more attention to people in my life (and also the everyday people I read about) that suffer tragedies than I do to celebrities. Don’t we all? Isn’t that a given?

But, it’s not like we are going to read about the guy next door’s issues on a gossip website though, are we?

Somehow I highly doubt Tribute will be running any pieces on my neighbours.

  6. trib • January 7, 2009 @ 5:11 PM

you should know Jo-Anne you seem to only have a life on the internet if your 13 like me ok if your pushing 40 time to get a ife

  7. trib • January 7, 2009 @ 5:24 PM

    i meant life

  8. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 5:30 PM

actually trib, I have a very full life and this site amuses me, no need to be rude.

I have 3 grown children who I spend whatever time I can with both at school (4 hour drive away) and at home, work two jobs, one full time, one part time, have taken a variety of school courses both night school and correspondence, see my family members, including elderly parents regularly, have a large group of friends, travel, etc. etc…..

as my part time job (for 16 years now) is computer based, I have time for fun on here, while working – assuming things about others you do not know can be – well, just that, assumption.

and even at 13, you should have a life beyond the Internet. You have a lot of time ahead of you to achieve so so much more.

  9. tributegirl • January 7, 2009 @ 5:56 PM

I agree with Jo-Anne’s first two comments totally, and it’s not that I disagree with her last one, but it just seems quite hypocritical considering her past posts which were very assuming of others on here.
But her second comment, that’s the one I mostly agree with, this is a gossip site, we come on here, post our comments, post our condolences, etc, but with our family, friends and neighbours, we do show a lot more attention than this.

  10. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 6:05 PM

so, what have I assumed? let’s hear it.

  11. Nancy • January 7, 2009 @ 6:29 PM

For starters, you have assumed that the people reading the comments on this article give a sh!t about your loser life!!

  12. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 6:39 PM

for starters…here we go again….your crass predictible insults…t.g. goes into hiding cuz she has nada to answer my question…typical

  13. tributegirl • January 7, 2009 @ 6:50 PM

I’m not in hiding, you fool, I was on another article.
You assumed mandee just sat on her *ss and wouldn’t work. Don’t deny it either, you specifically told her to get off her lazy *ss and find a job.

  14. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 7:07 PM

no, I never said that so at least quote properly

she admitted to having very few hours at her job every week on one post, and later I told her she should spend some of her spare time increasing those hours

So, I never assumed that she didn’t work, you as always attribute things to me that I never said…in a word….instigator.

and “fool” is another of your special mature touches, I assume???

  15. tributegirl • January 7, 2009 @ 7:17 PM

Fool is a very accurate description of you, but go ahead, assume away. Oh wait, but you don’t ever “assume”, do you?
And that’s not what you said, and you know it. All anyone would have to do is go back through the archives so see all the nasty, incorrect, “assuming” things you’ve said.
By the way, even though she works few hours, how do you know she has “spare time”? Assuming again? Maybe she’s going to school?

  16. Jo-Anne. • January 7, 2009 @ 7:42 PM

that is a wonderful idea, t.g., any interested (and I highly doubt it) parties should review the archives. wonderful idea.

some really really nasty arguments between Nancy and Mandee on a number of them. eye opener….
And tons of nastiness expressed by yourself as well.

all in black in white…be my guest

  17. Sam • January 7, 2009 @ 10:17 PM

    RIP Jett…
I know every well what this family is going throw, my daughter-in-law 13yrs ago died the same way, hitting he head on the bathroom tub after having a seizure and die a few minutes later. She left behind a 5 week old boy who I am raisng alone, he looks just like Jett.. so this to me hit home every much..

  18. Arnold • January 7, 2009 @ 11:21 PM

    Go Leafs Go!!!!!!!!
    Whats thus about Joan Jett??

  19. shorty • January 7, 2009 @ 11:47 PM

OMG Sam sorry to to hear about your daughter in law, its devestating to lose a family member no matter if your a so called no one or a celebrity its horrible to lose a child RIP no parent should go through such grief

  20. Nancy • January 8, 2009 @ 10:02 AM

HOLY HELL, HAGATHA…..GIVE IT UP!! Yes, everyone knows that at one time mandee and I DID exchange some heated words but, like anything else in life…WE GOT OVER IT! Maybe YOU should get over it! Life is too damn short to be a b!tch throughout all of it…I mean, just look at this article for instance….try to have some damn respect!

  21. Jo-Anne. • January 8, 2009 @ 10:27 AM

do you mean respect like as in when you tried to joke about the couch jump in response to this family’s tragedy? please.

  22. Nancy • January 8, 2009 @ 11:30 AM

It wasn’t a joke…my OPINION on THE TOPIC was that I don’t agree with scientology…never have, never will. Not a fan of any scientology members including but not limited to, John & Kelly, Tom & Katie, Jason Lee, Isaac Hayes, Juliette Lewis, Lisa Marie Presley, Priscilla Presley, Nancy Cartwright, Kirsti Alley, Leah Rimini, Erica Christiansen and Danny Masterson. And yes, although ‘scientology’ was not mentioned in THAT particular article that you speak of, John and Kelly ARE scientologists, so it is a given in any article about them….especially THIS article as scientology IS mentioned in it!!

  23. Jo-Anne. • January 8, 2009 @ 11:43 AM

“Im amazed John hasnt jumped all over Oprahs sofa too!!”
that wasn’t your attempt at joking – wit???
    please.
yeah, I’m sure it was a serious comment.

  24. Nancy • January 8, 2009 @ 11:46 AM

Take it however you want…like anyone on here really cares what YOU think! Instigator. 😛

  25. tributegirl • January 8, 2009 @ 5:04 PM

She seems to think she is the “Respect Police” or something, but yet she shows no respect to anyone at all.
Yes Jo, you be my guest, anyone please be my guest, and go through the archives. All your foolishness started, what, around summer ’08? Somewhere around there. And yes, it is all there in black and white, final verdit is that Jo is a b!tch and an instigator, always has been, always will be.

  26. Anonymous • January 8, 2009 @ 5:35 PM

Here u are on a article about a young kid dying and all u can do is argue. Get a life!

  27. mandee • January 9, 2009 @ 1:39 AM

and once again, RIP Jett. so sorry that youre gone 🙁

  28. mandee • January 9, 2009 @ 12:30 PM

hmm, im wondering why you would comment on my other posts today, but not this one?

  29. Jo-Anne. • January 9, 2009 @ 12:48 PM

make up your mind mandee, you’re all over the place. asking me not to comment, telling me to shut up, no one’s talking to me, etc. etc. etc. pages of it, ad nauseum.

    hmmmmm….leave it alone, for once

  30. Robyn • January 9, 2009 @ 3:40 PM

Wow. I am missing something here. By the looks for things you ALL need to get a life. Seriously – have you ever even laid eyes on one another or is this an “internet” squabble? Every one of you needs to get a hobby that doesn’t involve sitting on your *ss in front of a computer. And to Joanne who will clearly come back with “this is my job” perhaps you should do more work rather than ripping on people that don’t work. And to the others get a life and a hobby!!

  31. Jo-Anne. • January 9, 2009 @ 6:21 PM

actually, it couldn’t be farther from my job, Robyn

  32. tributegirl • January 9, 2009 @ 6:49 PM

I absolutely agree with you, Robyn.

  33. Jo-Anne. • January 9, 2009 @ 6:55 PM

    big surprise there

  34. Nancy • January 9, 2009 @ 6:59 PM

Instigator! Hahahahahaha…round and round we go!

  35. tributegirl • January 9, 2009 @ 7:13 PM

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!! Good one, Jo!
    Almost.

  36. mandee • January 10, 2009 @ 12:42 AM

heres one of the posts they deleted, lets see if it stays up this time?

man, its sad when i dont even come on the article, and no matter what NO MATTER WHAT jo keeps bringing me in. and you can say you didnt, that tg did, but she didnt really. she simply stated that that was part of the time that you assumed things. which you did. if i could increase my hours, do you really think i wouldnt be working a full 40+ hour week? do you think its easy for me to live off of 600 sometimes less a MONTH?? its not, its hell. but i manage. you dont need to discuss anything i say or do anywhere in any article. EVER. period. i dont bring up OH THERE WAS THIS ONE TIME THAT JO SAID I DIDNT WORK ! so dont bring up any fights ive had with anyone, or even with you. if people cared to know, they would clearly go and read all the comments, and see how you ALWAYS instigate the 3 of us, and insult us before we even bother to get rude and nasty with you. we are actually all really nice, and smart people, if youd just stop giving us reasons to pretend we arent then perhaps youd see that?

  37. ..... • January 10, 2009 @ 7:29 PM

i think you guys should just add each other to facebook or something and argue there b/c this is not the place for your childish arguments… people actually come on here to see whats what in the entertainment world and this is what they have to look at… all your ppls garbage…

and to top it off you guys are arguing on a page where they are notifying the public of a childs death… your squabble is completly inappropriate…

    R.I.P Jett

  38. vicki • January 11, 2009 @ 1:37 AM

What an appalling tragedy for John Travolta’s family. While this website exists to let people entertain themselves with celebrity chitchat, it is heartening to see how many people bothered to type a few kind words of condolence. Makes the world seem a little less cold when so many strangers feel the pain and wish comfort to a grief-stricken family so far away.

  39. mandee • January 11, 2009 @ 2:05 AM

the 2 of you are clearly unable to read properly. i more than once, on more than just this article, stressed how deeply sorry i am for their lose, and i made it perfectly clear that i in no way shape or form was undermining how tragic his death was. i was simply sticking up for myself when some heartless woman felt the need to once again drag me into her consistent battle for drama.

  40. mandee • January 11, 2009 @ 2:06 AM

    sorry, loss not lose.

  41. Nancy • January 11, 2009 @ 9:00 PM

Ok, I’m going to make this comment once again because it seems that some people who are total wimps and pushovers in real life and on the computer expect the rest of us to be like that as well. So, this comment is to the person who commented under the name ‘…..’on Jan 10 @ 7:29pm.

First of all, are you nuts? Who in their right mind would add total unrespectable strangers to their Facebook? Secondly, most of us just came on here to post our opinion as you did but there is always ‘one bad apple in every bushel’, isn’t there? Some people seem to think that everyone should have the same opinion as them and when they realize that these other people don’t share their opinion they get ‘nasty’. Some people accept difference of opinion and consider it to be a healthy thing, others….well, you read the comments above when I mentioned scientology…it’s not what a few people wanted to hear and they couldn’t just ignore it or debate it like a mature adult would. It’s not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last! 😛

  42. tributegirl • January 13, 2009 @ 2:36 PM

It won’t be the last time for sure. Hey, let’s try a little experiment here:

Hey Jo, wanna add me to your facebook?

  43. Nancy • January 13, 2009 @ 5:20 PM

I ‘positively’ think THAT would be quite interesting!!

  44. mandee • January 13, 2009 @ 9:43 PM

hey, i want jo to add ME to facebook too!!! 🙂 might as well make it a TEAM effort lol
