Spears released from psych ward

Britney Spears was released from the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center Wednesday after a seven day stay, despite the fact that she was on a 14-day hold. Both the doctor overseeing Spears’s care and her parents wanted her to stay, but the decision was overridden by a court representative, a source told People.com. After meeting up with paparazzi pal Adnan Ghalib, Britney went straight to the office of estate lawyer Adam Streisand. Streisand had claimed to represent Spears, but was rejected by the court on the grounds that Spears wasn’t mentally sound enough to hire a lawyer. Her father, Jamie Spears, who is temporary co-conservator of her $40-million fortune, and her mother Lynne Spears issued a joint statement last night to CNN’s Anderson Cooper: “We are deeply concerned about our daughter’s safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court’s orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted.”
